The Greg Kennedy Classic is a golf tournament fundraiser presented by Opendoor Church to benefit our Dream Scholarship Program. 

The Dream Scholarship Program is dedicated to serving under-resourced youth in Pitt County to break the cycle of generational poverty. Through the program, we award new scholarships each year to students beginning in 1st grade through 5th grade to participate in Opendoor After School and Summer Camp. This scholarship provides each child the opportunity to have childcare after school, access to mentorship, daily homework assistance, summer tutoring and support that help kids pursue what we call “God-sized dreams.”

The Greg Kennedy Classic is named after one of our Founding Pastors of Opendoor Church. Pastor Greg lived his life as an example of believing and investing in the next generation, and the Classic was created so that you too can have the opportunity to invest into the lives of the next generation as well. All proceeds will go to the Opendoor Dream Scholarship Program.

Common Questions

Where and when is this year's tournament? 

The Greg Kennedy Classic will be held at Brook Valley Country Club on Monday, October 6, 2025.

Morning Flight - Registration and the driving range opens at 7:30am with an 8:30am shotgun start for the morning flight. 

Afternoon Flight - Registration and the driving range will open at 12:30pm with a 1:30pm shotgun start for the afternoon flight.

How will the tournament be formatted? 

We will do a shotgun start for each flight, and it will be a four man team with "Captain's Choice" format.

Will this event be handicapped? 

Yes. We will have prizes for our first and second place winners in the net category and the gross category for each flight. Everyone has a chance to win!

Will there be mulligans or red tee busters?

Yes. We will have a Mulligan/Red Tee Buster Pack for sale on the day of the tournament for $30 per person. It will include one mulligan per side, and one red tee buster for the 18 holes.

Will there be food served at the tournament?

Yes. We will have a grab-and-go breakfast available for our Morning Flight. Lunch will be provided for both flights. Also, we will also have on-course snacks and drinks available all day.
